Has it all gone tits up?!

Having spent the last six months trying to finalise our plans, today we suffered a bit of a blow…

After being granted our visas, we booked our flights. We leave the UK on 31st October 2010. We land in Cairns, via Sydney, on 2nd November, and we have booked ourselves into a hostel for our first few nights. During our first few days here we will try to source a second-hand 4×4 motorhome, which we will then use as our home and mode of transport, for the next 12-18-24 months, on our trip around Australia.

At no great rush whatsoever, we will take in Cairns, then head south, through Brisbane and into Sydney. After Christmas and New Year, we will continue our clockwise trip around Oz, where we will take things steady and get “temporary” jobs as/when necessary – think fruit picking, beer tasting and shark wrestling…

We have also been planning our leaving party. We have now booked a venue and a DJ, and a hog roast for dinner. There are still a few other things to arrange, but things have been going very smoothly.

In other news, we sold our house! It took a few weeks before we received any real interest, but then things really took off and we started receiving new offers every day. We found ourselves to be in the middle of a bidding war, and what a great place it was! Eventually we received and accepted the final offer, and we were very pleased with how things had turned out. Wait for it…

BUT…!

Today we have been informed that the buyer is currently in a position where he is unable to proceed with the purchase of our house. He hopes that his situation will change again, and so do we, but he will not know any more until later this month. In the mean time, our house has gone back on the market, and we hope to be able to sell it as soon as possible! For us to be able to proceed with the plans that we have, we are reliant on taking money from the sale of the house with us.
